100% Cinsaut form the Bechtold Vineyard (Vineyard of the Year / Wine Institute) planted in 1886. Ripe cherries and raspberries are permeated by notes of cloves, allspice, briers, brambles and loam and wild tones of cranberry singing with purity and intensity; 100% Native Fermentation.
Contention (definition; the act or an instance of striving in controversy or debate, an assertion put forward in argument) is 100% Zinfandel from this beautiful 80 year old head trained vineyard grown by Robert Lauchland. This vineyard is found on the Westside of the Lodi AVA. This Zinfandel is a perfect representation of the terrior of the Vineyard. Sultry and complex with layer after layer are just the start of the beautiful wine. Earth, Dust and Mineral are the major components of this unique Zinfandel. A blend of Cinsaut, Carrignane, Grenache Petite Sirah and Syrah. Aromas of red fruit Licorice and bright cherry are the backbone of this classsic “Rhone Style” red blend. A perfume nose of bright strawberry and rose petals. An explosion of redolent fruit through the palate with a hint of spice...Native Fermentation...
Planted on the westside of Lodi in the 1940’s, this old vine head trained vineyard shows charactreristics of dark fruit with soft tannins. This vineyard has been farmed by the Bonotto family for decades with a dedication to the land and vines. Tis Zinfandel has a reputation for being juicy and approachable.
Rous vineyard was planted in 1909 and is one of the first vineyards planted on St George root stock in the Lodi AVA. Very consistent yields of 2.5 tons per acts, year after year the Rous vineyard is our first Zinfandel vineyard picked. Showing very distinct Eastside characteristics of floral nose with bright red fruit, red and racy though the palate.
