Sauvignon blanc is a green-skinned grape variety that originates from the Bordeaux region of France. The grape most likely gets its name from the French words sauvage ("wild") and blanc ("white") due to its early origins as an indigenous grape in South West France. It is possibly a descendant of Savagnin. Sauvignon blanc is planted in many of the world's wine regions, producing a crisp, dry, and refreshing white varietal wine. The grape is also a component of the famous dessert wines from Sauternes and Barsac. Our 2020 Sauvignon Blanc shows aggressively grassy and notes sweetly tropical. With noticeable acidity and "green flavors" of grass, green bell peppers and nettles with some tropical fruit (such as passion fruit) and floral (such as elderflower) notes. Lodi’s warmer climates, develops more tropical fruit notes leaving slight grapefruit and tree fruit (such as peach) notes.
Rous vineyard was planted in 1909 and is one of the first vineyards planted on St George root stock in the Lodi AVA. Very consistent yields of 2.5 tons per acts, year after year the Rous vineyard is our first Zinfandel vineyard picked. Showing very distinct Eastside characteristics of floral nose with bright red fruit, red and racy though the palate.
Dark ruby at the center with a bouquet offering scents of raspberries and blueberries permeated by notes of cloves, lavender and graphite, and then, very lightly, a sort of red cherry licorice-cigarette paper element that lends a welcome sense of delicacy. This wine is quite dry but flavorful along the spiced and macerated red and black berry and plum range, and it’s powered by vibrant acidity for propulsive energy. Tannins, on the other hand, feeling carved from dusty underbrush, briers and brambles, are tranquil, deeply set and inexorable.

Our Farm to Cup coffee sourcing model incorporates three pillars of sustainability: social, economic, and environmental. We maintain strong, trusting relationships with the producers and farms where we source our coffee. We consistently pay well above Fair Trade prices to our suppliers in order to provide financial stability for them and their workers. We also prioritize working with producers who reduce their environmental impact through water conservation, forest preservation, and shade management.
The journey from Farm to Cup involves many complex steps, requiring careful attention throughout the entire process.
